KITA Hosted a Meeting with Trade Industry by Inviting High-level Officials from Latin America

Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Han Duck-soo) hosted a dinner with the Korean representatives of trade industry by inviting high-level officials from Latin America, including the ministers and vice ministers as well as senior officials of major agencies, on June 1 at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-Dong.

 

The high-ranking officials from Latin America, including the foreign ministers from Costa Rica and Ecuador, Latin American ambassadors in Korea, the director general of NAFIN (Nacional Financiera) and the chairman of FINDETER (Financiera del Desarrollo), and a group of chairmen of KITA, and executive members of Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor, the major companies that have entered into Latin America, attended the event. They spent time to discuss business issues for cooperation between Korea and Latin America as well as to exchange ideas.

 

Han Duck-soo, chairman of KITA, spoke in his welcome speech “In 1973, South Korea - Latin American trade volume was only $50 million. However, it had grown and posted $54.7billion last year, which was 1,000 times more than that of 30 years ago. The economic exchanges have been expanding.” He also mentioned “In order to support Korean companies to advance into Latin America, KITA offers business matching services between South Korean and Latin American companies for trades and investments and also holds monthly seminars under the topic of sharing information on the entrance to Latin American markets. KITA will provide enhanced assistance to help Korean companies’ expansion of their business to Latin America.

 

KITA has been supporting the trade industry by providing networking opportunities between Korean representatives of trade industry and high-ranking officials from Latin America since 2013.
