KITA to Make a Waterway for Korean Wave to Yanji and Tumen River

The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Han Duck-soo) participated in “the 10th Yanji • Tumen International Investment and Trade Fair (referred to as Yanji · Tumen Fair)” which was held in Yanji, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province, for 3 days from August, 28, in order to support Korean promising small and medium businesses to enter into Chinese market.

 

This fair, which was jointly hosted by the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture government and Department of Commerce of Jilin Province and organized by Yanji City Government, was the largest economic exchange event of Yanbian Prefecture. This year, around 10,000 businessmen from 300 trade companies in 15 countries and regions including Korea, Japan, Russia, the U.S., Canada and Australia participated in the event.

 

KITA supported the selected 17 promising companies, who were interested in exporting to China as well as entering into Yanji and Tumen region, to participate in the fair. The participants had one on one consultation meetings for import and export with the buyers from China and other countries and made local on-site inspections.

 

Particularly, the eight cosmetics and beauty companies, who were leading the Korean Wave with K-Beauty, planned to attract buyers with the functional cosmetics that include mud and snail ingredients and aroma therapy and the massage devices. Also, the three food companies aimed Chinese palate with K-food products that contain aloe, honey and seaweed. The participating companies introduced various products to buyers from China as well as all over the world. For example, they showed daily products such as eco-friendly cleaners and bidet, the sports products including sunglasses for outdoor activities and goggles and the medical supplement products such as a machine to improve eyesight and a spine protection product.

 

The Chairman Han duck-soo said “Yanbian area is the intersection of the Northeast Asian economy, population and geography. Particularly, it has close cultural and historical ties with Korea. I hope this fair opens up new horizons of economic cooperation between Korea and Yanji and Tumen river area and provides an opportunity for Korea and China to enter into the next level of their relationship.”

 

Besides the fair, the Chairman Han had a plan to continue the economic cooperation activities with the local important figures through meeting the party secretary and governor of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and the CCPIT vice-chairman of Jilin Province as well as visiting the Economic and Trade Cooperation Area of Hunchun.
