The KoreaInternational Trade Association (Chairman Han-Duck-soo, http://kita.net) held “2014 Export Fair for SMEs”to support the overseas business as well as export expansion of the small and medium companies in Cheonan City Hall on September, 27. The event was co-hosted by the KITA and the Convergence Federation of Small and Medium Business and sponsored by Cheonan City. 19 buyers from 11 overseas companies in China, India and ASEAN region participated in the export fair.

In order to participate in the event, Asia’s big buyers such as Ole Supermarket, which is the subsidiary of China’s No.1 retailer China Resources Vanguard Co., Ltd., Rainbow Department Store, which is No.1 in Shenzhen region by market share, India’s No.1 car maker Tata Motors, etc visited Korea. In particular, the high expectations for the settlement of Korea-China Free Trade Agreement within this year attracted Korean companies’ attention to secure the distribution channels for the early entry into Chinese domestic market. In the consultation site, around 40 Korean companies, who produce quality items such as processed foods, electronic products, IT products, cosmetics, household goods, etc, had the heated business meetings with the buyers in order to make inroads into overseas markets.

A food buyer from China who took part in the fair said “Due to Chinese consumers’ disbelief in the foods made in China and the increasing demands for a variety of processing foods, the quality Korean goods will continue to be popular.” He emphasized “When the Korea-China FTA is signed, Chinese retailers’ sourcing of Korean foods will be more active.”

Choi Won-ho, the director of International Marketing Group of KITA said “China, India and ASEAN are the most critical markets for Korean companies to target. This fair will be a successful case to provide opportunities for the domestic market-oriented companies to export.” He added “KITA plans to offer aggressive support for every participating company such as door to door one on one consultation in order to facilitate the follow-up measures.”

Meanwhile, KITA will actively support the small and medium exporters’ expansion to overseas markets by hosting “Grand Sourcing Fair 2014” in which many big retailers are supposed to attend in December.
