Korean
and Chinese Businessmen Say “We Will Actively Use the Korea-China FTA”
-KITA held the
Korea-China Businessmen’s meeting-
The Korea
International Trade Association (Chairman, Han Duck-soo) co-hosted the
‘Korea-China Businessmen’s meeting’ with CCPIT* at Trade Tower in Samseong-dong
on February 2. The purpose of this event was to help companies in the two countries
effectively take advantage of the Korea-China free trade agreement as well as
expand the bilateral economic cooperation. The total number of 120 people,
including the chairman Jiang Zengwei of CCPIT and officials from 25 Chinese
companies and 45 Korean companies, participated in the meeting.
*China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT):
Established in 1952, CCPIT is a channel for external relations. It is
responsible for the exchanges with foreign companies and the exhibition
businesses. Its roles are equivalent to Korea’s KOTRA and The Korea Chamber of
Commerce
The business people
from the both countries discussed the measures to utilize the Korea-China FTA
effectively and expand the bilateral economic cooperation. They also exchanged
information about the market trend of each country. An official at KITA said that
this meeting was meaningful because the business people, who would actually
take advantage of the pact, sought ways to use the FTA in practice and the
possibility of economic cooperation.
Jang Ho-geun, head of
the International Marketing Group of KITA said “The Korea-China FTA has been
signed after the both governments’ relentless efforts and persistent
negotiations. Now, it is a critical time for the companies who will take
advantage of the agreement and the supporting organizations to play their roles.”
He added “The open-minded exchanges between business people will be the
foundation for trust building and enhance the bilateral tie to be more robust
and mature.”
In addition, on the
free trade agreement, KITA and CCPIT agreed to strengthen the cooperative
relations through various joint businesses. Those two organizations will
co-host ‘Hallyu Products & Service Marketing Fair’ in July in Beijing,
China, and KITA is planning to actively support Korean companies to enter into
Chinese domestic markets by taking advantage of the FTA as well as the Korean
Wave (Hallyu) via those joint projects.
